To Buy Thursday (TBT)

Welcome back to a weekly event called "To Buy" Thursday, hosted here, that shares a book or books that have made it to my "To Buy" list.

I do not know about you, but there are a lot of great books already published that I have not read yet that I know it is just a matter of time before I buy them or hope that someone else buys it for me. Don't we all wish that last part happened more often. Well, I wanted a fun way to share these books with you, so I created To Buy Thursday. Occasionally, I will even include why it was added, who suggested it to me, or other fun facts related to it making the "To Buy" list.

Check out which book made my "To Buy" list this week:

Title: Fracture
Author: Megan Miranda
Book Blurb: Elevan minutes passed before Delaney Maxwell was pulled from the icy waters of a Maine lake by her best friend Decker Phillips. By then her heart had stopped beating. Her brain had stopped working. She was dead. And yet she somehow defied medical precedent to come  back seemingly fine. Eveyone wants Delaney to be all right, but she knows she's far from normal. Pulled by strange sensations she can't control or explain, Delaney finds herself drawn to the dying. Is her altered brain now predicting death, or causing it? Then Delaney meets Troy Varga, who recently emerged from a coma with similar abilities. At first she's reassured to find someone who understands the strangeness of her new existence, but Delany soon discovers that Troy's motives aren't quite what she thought. Is their gift a miracle, a freak of nature or something much more frightening? (Taken From Goodreads)
Why: Amanda with Letters Inside Out post a review about this book back in January (Review) and said "Fracture is a must read for all YA-readers." I have seen it a few times at book stores since then and every time I see that cover I just think I really want to buy this one, so I made it my "To Buy Thursday" pick.

What has made it to your "To Buy" list? Check out the simple rules below to participate:

  1. Find a book that you really want to buy and share it with others in a post.
  2. Be sure to grab the official To Buy Thursday (TBT) badge and include it in your post.
  3. Want to share your posts with me, then post a link to your blog in the comments.
I hope you will join in the fun and if not at least come back next week to see what else is worthy of being mentioned for To Buy Thursday (TBT).

Happy Reading!

REVIEW: Love Me To Death by Allison Brennan

I read this book because Felicia (The Geeky Blogger) started a book club at Stonebriar Barnes and Noble with DFW Tea Readers and this was one of the book we had to read. Like most people in my life the first part of this year has been non-stop, so I was not able to make it to book club so I thought I would share my thoughts about this book with you. This was my very first Allison Brennan novel and I hate that it has taken me this long to read her books. Thank you Felicia! Love Me To Death was a non-stop page turner and while I hope you read my review the bottom line is I loved this book. It is definitely "O'Boyling" hot!

Title: Love Me To Death

Author: Allison Brennan (Check out her website or follow her on twitter)

Publisher: Ballantine Books

Pages: 481

BOOK BLURB
Six years ago, Lucy Kincaid was attacked and nearly killed by an online predator. She survived. Her attacker did not. Now Lucy's goal is to join the FBI and fight cyber-crime, but in the meantime, she's volunteered with a victim's rights group, surfing the Web undercover to lure sex offenders into the hands of the law. But when the predators she hunts start turning up as murder victims, the FBI takes a whole new interest in Lucy.
With her future and possibly even her freedom suddenly in jeopardy, Lucy discovers she's a pawn in someone's twisted plot to mete out vigilante justice. She joins forces with security expert and daredevil Sean Rogan, and together they track their elusive quarry from anonymous online chat rooms onto the mean streets of Washinton, D.C. But someone else is shadowing them: A merciless stalker has his savage eye on Lucy. The only way for her to escape his brutality may be another fight to the death. (Taken From Goodreads)

MEET ALLISON BRENNAN

New York Times and USA Today bestseller Allison Brennan is the author of eighteen novels and several short stories. A former consultant in the California State Legislature, she lives in Northern California with her husband Dan and their five children. Crime fiction, mysteries, and romantic suspense have always been Allison's favorites, so it's no surprise that her romantic thrillers have a dark suspense edge. Writing three books a year is more than a full-time job, and so is raising five kids, but Allison believes life is too show to be bored. When she's not writing, she's reading, playing video games, watching old movies or new television shows, driving to or attending volleyball/ basketball/ football/ soccer games, and on occasion even makes it to the gym where she enjoys people-watching more than exercise. (Taken from Brennan's website
MY REVIEW
This novel kept me guessing right up to the end. It was refreshing to not know who the bad guy was immediately. Brennan gave you plenty of time to suspect all the wrong people. When we come into the story Lucy Kincaid has already survived so much that you know she is going to be a kick-A character. Her love interest, Sean Rogan, is complete man candy and worthy of joining my potential book boyfriends list. I would definitely pull out some lady claws to claim him as my own. All the characters are so well developed, even the minor background ones. The story just flowed for me. A definite cannot put down book. It was a book version of Law and Order SVU, which is one of my favorite shows.

My Rating: 5 Stars

Please go out and pick up this book. You will not be disappointed. Come back and tell me all about what you thought about it. If you are a huge fan of Allison Brennan then I would love to know which book is your favorite. Also, if you are in the DFW area and want a book club to join filled with lots of amazing people let me know. I will get you set up. Let's get this chat started.

Happy Reading!

Check out which book made my "To Buy" list this week:

Title: The Witness
Author: Nora Roberts
Book Blurb: Daughter of a controlling mother, Elizabeth finally lets loose one night, drinking at a nightclub and allowing a strange man's seductive Russian accent lure her to a house on Lake Shore Drive. The events that followed changed her life forever. Twelve years later, the woman known as Abigail Lowery lives on the outskirts of a small town in the Ozarks. A freelance programmer, she designs sophisticated security system--and supplements her own security with a fierce dog and an assortment of firearms. She keeps to  herself, saying little, revealing nothing. But Abigail's reserve only intrigues police chief Brooks Gleason. Her logical mind, her secretive nature, and her unromantic viewpoints leave him fascinated but frustrated. He suspects that Abigail needs protection from something--and that her elaborate defenses hide a story that must be revealed. (Taken From Goodreads)
Why: Sara Reyes with Fresh Fiction said she had read the book three times it was so good. This made the obvious choice for my "To Buy Thursday" pick.

YA Breathless Tour 2012 - Dallas GIVEAWAY

The Breathless Reads Tour 2012 showcased Beth Revis (Across The Universe & A Million Suns), Marie Lu (Legend), Andrea Cremer (Nightshade, Wolfsbane, Bloodrose), and Jessica Spotswood (Born Wicked).  They made a stop in Dallas, Texas and it was amazing! Penguin Teen and FreshFiction, who were the hosts at Barnes and Noble Stonebriar, out did themselves with how beautiful the set up was.

We came in and found these cute little cafe menus that honored each of the authors.
Then we were given these awesome tour event passes.

Gwen Reyes was the moderator and she was bringing the heat with all the great questions. The authors were all so different, but got along very well. Sometimes when you go to signings/discussions they can be really interesting and other times they can drag on, but this one was definitely the kind that I was sad when it was over. I loved all the questions! I thought I would share a few Q & As with you and some more photos.

Q: Which character are you most like?
Beth Revis (BR) - More like Elder
Andrea Cremer (AC) - Ansel
Marie Lu (ML) - Tess
Jessica Spotswood (JS) - Kate

Q: What is your favorite kill in your books?
BR: Shelby's death was my favorite kill. (Great story about how she names her characters too, you should ask her!)
AC: Kyle, brother of Ethan
ML: I get really sad about deaths, but if I had to pick one then Matthias.

From Left To Right: Jessica Spotswood, Marie Lu, Andrea Cremer, and Beth Revis

The Lovely Gwen Reyes
After they talked we all got in line to have our books signed. Beth Revis signed mine extra special. Check it out:

Trailer Thursday: The Rook by Daniel O'Malley

Happy Thursday! I know I have not been the most consistent book blogger, but rest assured I am reading and really working on getting to the posting part. :-) My husband actually surprised me with The Rook by Daniel O'Malley when he was picking up my book club read. He said you are going to love this book and I will see you when you are done. I of course did the responsible thing and read the book club book first, which was great and I will tell you all about it later. Then I picked up The Rook and was a little scared. It is a thick book! After the first page I became his official stalker. I am proud to say that the next time I am in Australia I will have to buy him food or whatever he wants as long as I get to meet him. I hate that his book was published the day I was leaving Australia otherwise I am sure I would have incorporated an author stalking adventure in the plans. :-)

Anyways, I found this trailer will executing my official stalking duties and thought I would share it with you. Please go out and pick up this book! It is good!

Title: The Rook

Author: Daniel O'Malley (Check out his website or follow him on twitter)

Publisher: Little Brown & Co.

Release Date: January 11, 2012

BOOK BLURB

The body you are wearing used to be mine.

So begins the letter Myfanwy Thomas is holding when she awakes in a London park surrounded by bodies all wearing latex gloves. With no recollection of who she is, Myfanwy must follow the instructions her former self left behind to discover her identity and track down the agents who want to destroy her.

She soon learns that she is a Rook, a high-ranking member of a secret organization called the Chequy that battles the many supernatural forces at work in Britain. She also discovers that she possesses a rare, potentially deadly supernatural ability of her own.

In her quest to uncover which member of the Chequy betrayed her and why, Myfanwy encounters a person with four bodies, an aristocratic woman who can enter her dreams, a secret training facility where children are transformed into deadly fighters, and a conspiracy more vast than she ever could have imagined.
